The battle
between Class 6A, Area 10's two ranked teams wasn't won with a bang. It
was won with ping after ping after ping of the bat as well as some
costly errors.
No. 2 Pelham hung a 12-run inning on the
eighth-ranked Bucs to come away with a 15-5 win to improve to 26-2
overall and 5-0 in the area. Pelham pitcher Trevor Fitts improved to 8-0
on the year in allowing six hits -- two to Hoover catcher Tyler Mims --
with just two walks and seven strikeouts. Mims doubled and had two RBIs for Hoover (21-9, 2-3).
