On a brisky opening day at Cloverdale BallPark, the Mosquito Cardinals opened their season with a dramatic come from behind 5-4 victory over the Mariners.

Down 4-0 in the bottom of the 6th, the Cardinals launched their comeback when Riley Faul drew a walk that would later turn into the cardinals first run of the season after the Mariners pitcher also walked Vulcano, Cork, and Carmont. Chattaway followed with a two run single to make the game a nail bitter. The Mariners walked the always fearsome Sheardown to face the second member of the Cardinals' Girl Power, Alexa Robichaud. After a couple of foul balls, Robichaud battled back to draw a walk that would produce the game tying RBI. The table was now set for Kaiden McCreedy who jumped on the first pitch for his second hit of the day to centerfield to seal the Cardinals dramatic victory.

The comeback saved a brillant pitching performance by the Cardinals pitching staff on the day led by the Lava Master, Liam Vulcano who threw 2 scoreless innings.  Carmont, Chattaway and Poole were also dominant in their first outing of the season. The defense was solid as Macmillan, Vulcano and Carmont produced some defensive gems.

The coaches were very impress with their team's character in coming back and believe they have the pitching staff to go a long way this season.
