On a chilly April night, the Cardinals came to play as they jumped on the Cloverdale Rays early for a 14-9 win.
Thomas Chattaway led the Cardinals offensively with 3 hits and 8 RBI's while McCreedy, Vulcano, Cork, and Carmont each scored 3 runs. Kaiden "The Hammer" McCreedy continued his hot hitting streak with two hits while Alexa "Red Rocket" Robichaud supported the attack with her first hit of the year.
The pitching was solid once again led by rookie Dylan Sheardown who allowed only 3 runs in two innings of work. Tanner Carmont overcame some early jitters in middle relief and allowed only one run while Chattaway zapped the Rays with his mighty fast ball to limit them to 1 run in two innings.
Robichaud denied the Rays defensively with two defensive gems in the first inning to set the tone defensively. Cameron Macmillan was solid at shortstop and behind the plate while rookie catcher Vulcano gunned down his first runner in the fifth to kill any hope of a rally by the Rays.
The Cardinals still have a lot of work ahead of them this season but they have built some early momentum as they sit atop the standings in the Mosquito division. |
