With a bare bones roster (Spring Break) the Pirates managed to hold off Sequim on Friday afternoon 7-4. The Wolves jumped on starter, Caleb Ranirez for two runs in the top of the first. Highline came back with one of their own in the bottom half and then added three more in the second to take the lead. The Pirates bats were pretty quiet but a porous Sequim defense and some good patience at the plate accounted for Pirate runs in 5 of the 6 innings. Ryan Lingle came on in relief in the fourth and picked up his second win of the year. Logan Brickell was the only multi-hit Pirate batsman going 2-for-3. Ryan Brett scorched the visitors with five more stolen bases. The win improves Highline's record to 6-1 on the season. Four more games are on tap for the coming week with Hazen coming to our place on Monday night for a 7:00 Seamount League contest. Thursday is the make-up game at Lindbergh and Friday we host a doubleheader starting at 4:00 PM with Evergreen.
Despite being out-voted by a Lacrosse game in the Seattle Times Game of the Week poll, Comcast decided to tape our game VS Sequim anyway. The highlights will be on FSN this coming Wednesday at 10:30 PM on a show called "Varsity News." It will also be available on Comcast's "On Demandl" channel and at the Varsity News website. http://www.thevarsitynews.com/index.php
