On a windy April saturday noon showdown, the Cardinals extended their winning streak to 3 games by defeating the Royals 14-6.
Powered by some great pitching performances from Sheardown and Carmont who each pitched a scoreless inning and Vulcano and Chattaway who battled for two solid innings apiece, the Cardinals held the vaunted offense of the Royals to six runs.
Benefiting from their hardwork in the batting cage, the Cardinals jumped to the lead in the first inning and never looked back. Powered by Vulcano with 2 hits and 4 run scored and McCreedy with 2 hits and 3 run scored who set the tone at the top of the lineup. They were supported by Macmillan, Sheardown, and Chattaway who each got 2 hits and produced 3 RBI's.
Poole, Cork, and McCreedy showed that the Red Birds would not be intimated as they took first after being hit by the opposing pitchers. Faul and Robichaud also contributed to this offensive feast by each drawing 3 walks. Chapman surprised the opponent by stealing home in the second inning.
Chattaway set the tone defensively with a centrefield catch on the first batter while Macmillan continue to show some great potential behind the plate.
