On rare sunny afrernoon this April, the Cardinals offence woke up from its last game slumber as they pounded 20 hits to defeat the toothless Cloverdale Tigers 16-6.
The Cardinals attack was led by Michael "Big Pappy" Hampton who blasted the Tigers for four hits. Vulcano and Chattaway also produced four hits apiece while Cameron "The Philosopher" Macmillan joined the offensive feast with three hits. Poole, Sheardown, Carmont and Robichaud also hit safely for the Cardinals.
The Cardinals pitching staff produced another strong performance led by starter Tanner Carmont who led the way with another scoreless first inning. "Mowe'm Down" Sheardown had another strong outing with a 12 pitch scoreless inning while the "Lava Master" Vulcano put out a fire in the 4th with only 8 pitches. Thomas "The Closer" Chattaway closed the match with two scoreless innings.
The Cards defence is rounding into shape as the first month of the season comes to a close. Poole, Vulcano, Robichaud, Macmillan, and Hampton all worked together to produce some smart defensive plays.
The coaches were happy to see their troops rebound so quickly and look forward to taking on the undefeated Yankees next weekend.
