RA. Long 13, Hudson’s Bay 0 (five innings): The Lumberjacks lineup came to life with 16 hits in their first win of the season Monday afternoon in nonleague action in Vancouver.
Spencer Thorsen and Tanner Ruffe each had four-hit games, Brady Hulings was 2 for 4 with a triple and Ryan Peerboom 2 for 4 as the Jacks (1-2) rebounded from a pair of losses to begin the season.
“Our bats had been sort of shy, but we faced two good pitchers the week before,” said RAL coach Mark Hulings, whose team scored four runs in losses to Woodland and Union. “Part of our goal was to find a bit of barrel today and get back into somewhat of a groove at the plate.”
The Jacks also got some strong innings on the mound from Thorsen and Peerboom, with the former getting the win with three innings of one-hit ball with three strikeouts and one walk. Peerboom pitched two scoreless innings.
RAL (1-2) travels to Seaside, Ore., for the Seaside Tournament on Wednesday and Thursday.
