Posted Mar 27/14 - RAL duo combines for no-hitter
•  By The Daily News Jacks hurlers Tanner Ruffe and Triston Goldner combined on a six-inning no-hitter as the R.A. Long baseball team topped Corbett 10-0 Wednesday at the Seaside tournament in Oregon.Ruffe struck out five in four innings of work, while Goldner struck out two in two. Only a pair of walks — one from each pitcher — kept them from tossing a perfect game.“(Ruffe) was very efficient and effective with his (curveball),” RAL coach Mark Hulings said. “He was able to work backwards at times and have an effective fastball behind it.”Ryan Peerboom went 2 for 4 with a double and three RBIs, Morgan Baker had two hits — including a triple — and Brady Hulings added a double for RAL, which has won two straight after an 0-2 start to spring.“That was our goal to get back in the groove of things and establish a good presence on the hill, get a good presence at the plate,” Coach Hulings said. “We wanted to put the game in motion, and we were able to do that today. Overall, offensively and defensively today we were pretty sold.”The Jacks (2-2) face Sutherlin in their tournament finale Thursday.
