Posted May 3/10 - HAZEN 4 HIGHLINE 2

Highline's defense took the day off which resulted in a 4-2 loss to Hazen on Monday afternoon.  The offense wan't exactly humming either but fortunately, there is another day as the Pirates face Kennedy tomorrow afternoon at 3:30 in the final league game of the year.  A win for Highline secures the 2nd place seed in the sub-district tournament.  A loss creates a tie-breaker game with Hazen which is scheduled for 6:00 PM at Moshier tomorrow night.  If Highline beats Kennedy, the 6:00 game will be considered a non-league game for both teams and played anyway.  Today's game saw Highline jump out to a 1-0 lead in the first when Jonny Locher walked, stole second and scored on Lee Carson's single.  Hazen tied it in the third on a double and an RBI single.  The Highlanders took the lead in the fourth, compliments of two HHS errors.  Hazen added two more unearned runs in the fifth to make it 4-1.  Highline mounted  a comeback in the top of the seventh when Ryan Brett doubled, stole third and came home on a throwing error.  Two more Pirates reached base but a ground out ended the contest snapping Highlines's 4 game winning streak.  Ryan Lingle pitched well enough to win but suffered his first mound loss of the season.  Tomorrow is the final Home Game of the year and the final Home Game for nine Highline Seniors.  Your support will be appreciated.
