Tanner Ruffe and Jose Hinojosa combined on a shutout as R.A. Long downed Rainier 6-0 in nonleague baseball Wednesday in Oregon.
Ruffe threw the first four innings to pick up the win and Hinojosa followed for the final three to earn the save.
“That’s exactly what we’re looking for,” Jacks coach Mark Hulings said. “Two seniors ... and they’re a pretty good one-two punch.”
At the plate for RAL (4-2), which scored two runs in the fifth and three in the seventh, Spencer Thorsen went 3 for 4 with a double and Tyler Messinger 2 for 3, while Brady Hulings and Hinojosa each added a pair of hits.
Rainier travels to Banks on Thursday and R.A. Long faces Mark Morris on Tuesday at Story Field,
