On a rare beautiful spring evening this season, the Cardinals shook off the rust and pounded the Angels for a 17-9 victory. The Cards took advantage of the opposing pitcher's control problems as they jumped t o a 4-0 lead in the first. McCreedy and Robichaud hung tough as they took hits from the hard throwing Angels' pitcher in the first.

Chattaway led the charge offensively once again with two hits and 6 RBI's while Macmillan and Carmont hit some frozen rope line drives to break the game open later in the contest. Hampton continued his offensive streak with with a hard hit single in the second inning and he also drew a couple of walks. Vulcano and McCreedy rounded the attack with one hit apiece and reached 1st base safely 4 times each. Sheardown showed great patience at the plate as he walked four times.

The pitching staff was solid once again as Carmont allowed only one run to start the game while "Mowem' Down" Sheardown held the opposition scoreless in a 13 pitches 3rd inning. "The Closer" Chattaway came in in the last inning and  pitched a scoreless inning to close the match.

McCreedy and Sheardown set the tone defensively as they retired the Angels lead off hitter with a defensive gem in the first. Sheardown and Carmont combined for another couple of great plays while Macmillan swallowed a high flyball with his huge Pizza Box like glove...

The gruelling rood trip continues on friday night as the Cardinals face the Giants for the first time this season at Chimney Heights field.
