Posted May 12/10 - HIGHLINE 6 CAMAS 5
The Pirates are headed back to the State tournament by virtue of a 6-5 "nail-biter" against the Papermakers on Tuesday.  Camas came into the game with a League and District Title on their resume' and a WSU bound starting pitcher.  However, their defense let them down in the second inning.  With two outs and a two strike count, Logan Brickell stroked a single to get the offense in gear.  Caleb Ramirez then reached on an error followed by Luke Werle's RBI double.  An intentional pass to Ryan Brett loaded the bases and another Camas error on a Ryan Lingle grounder scored Caleb and set the stage for Jonny Locher's 3 RBI triple down the right field line to make it 6-0.  Meanwhile Lee Carson was cruising through three innings before Camas came alive for three runs in the fourth.  The Papermakers added single runs in the fifth and sixth to get within one.  Brett came on to close it in the bottom of the seventh, coaxing a strike out, a base-on-balls and two ground outs to punch the Pirates ticket to "The Dance."  The offense was led by Locher and Jacob Wydick with two hits each and Joe Young played solid defensively at third base to help the cause.  Next up for Highline is a 1:00 PM game, Saturday against SPSL Champion Enumclaw at Auburn Mountainview.  The bracket has been updated and is available from the following link:  http://wcd3.org/BA_3A_BracketUpdate_10.pdf
