A two-out rally in the bottom of the sixth inning pushed the Bearcats past the Lumberjacks in nonleague action Tuesday at Chehalis. Kaden Vanderwerf was cruising along with two-plus innings of scoreless relief when W.F. West put together a rally that turned a one-run deficit into a 3-2 lead that held up. “They flexed their muscles at just the right time,” RAL coach Mark Hulings said. The WFW comeback spoiled an otherwise solid outing for Vanderwerf and starter Gunnar Blix. Vanderwerf struck out three and walked none with six hits allowed in three innings of work, while Blix gave up just one hit and one run with two strikeouts in his three innings on the bump. Andrew Walling drove in both of RAL’s runs with a pair of doubles. “We’re hanging in there, we’re battling,” said Hulings, whose team also lost a one-run game to Kelso last week. “We’re just good enough to lose right now.” RAL (0-3) hosts Rainier on Thursday in a possible doubleheader.
