Posted May 26/10 - Cardinals Going for the Crown After 8-7 Win Over Royals!

Short a couple of players and a couple of coaches, the Cardinals return to action on tuesday night with a dramatic come from behind 8-7 victory over the Royals. The win secures a top 3 finish for the club and a Regular Season Championship Game on Friday against the Yankees.

Facing a smaller Royals team, the Cardinals pitchers had to battle hard all evening to keep their club in the game. Carmont earned the start and battled hard for two innings before giving way to Vulcano who came in and struck out 4 batters in two innings of work. When Vulcano started struggling with the Royals miniscule strike zone, "Mowem'Down" Sheardown came in and shut the door with 12 pitches.

As the rain started to come down, Thomas "The Closer" Chattaway was brought in and he didn't disappoint. He kept his composure after allowing an early run on a trick play and responded with 5 K's to shut the door on the boys in blue... He was help defensively by a splendid play at second base by Zack "Shaggy" Poole against the Royals clean up hitter to end their offensive threat. Poole was also stellar at 1st base while Sheardown, Robichaud and Carmont help the cause defensively.

With McCreedy and Macmillan on holidays, the Red Birds started the game with only 9 players and received contribution from everyone in this team victory. After Riley "Smiley" Faul shook the Royals closer with her smile and a hard ground out to lead the sixth inning, the Cardinals put on their rallye caps as Poole came to bat. He quickly delivered with a single. Vulcano took the pitcher deep in the count for a hard earned walk, setting the stage for "Tannerrific Carmont" who responded with a walk off triple to score two runs and earn his team the Victory.

Chattaway and Sheardown supported the attack with two hits apiece while Michael "Big Pappy" Hampton and Kyle "BobbleHead" Cork came through with some hard hit singles. Alexa "Red Rocket"  Robichaud continued to show the guys how to be though by taking a hard picth from the Royals flame thrower and responded with an RBI ground-out in her next at bat.

Coach Robichaud was very impressed with his team's character after a long layoff and now expects his team to jump on the Yankees in the Regular Season Championship Game on Friday.
