Posted Jun 5/10 - Cardinals Put a Cork on Mets Playoffs Hopes with 16-12 win.

After jumping to a comfortable lead early in the match, the Cardinals slowly let the Mets back in the contest as they try to preserve pitching to play 3 games in a week. With their closer Chattaway reaching his pitch count limit for the day, coach Vulcano made the call to the bullpen and brought Kyle Cork to preserve the victory. Cork didn't disappoint has he battled out of a bases loaded jam to put a cork on the Mets' hope of a comeback as he earn the save in the Cardinals 16-12 win.

Offensively led by the top of their order, Vulcano, Poole, and Carmont who each got on base 5 times, the Cardinals quickly built a 12-4 lead. "Bobble Head" Cork, Riley "Smiley" Faul, and minor league call up J-J Vulcano each got on base 4 times while Chattaway and Hampton supported the attack with two hits apiece. The Cardinals were very discipline at the plate as they drew 23 walks.

While Cork preserved the victory in dramatic fashion, Carmont set the tone as he allowed only 1 run in the first inning. The Cards defense continued to round into shape as Carmont, Vulcano, Poole Sheardown and Hampton made some solid defensive play in the win.

The coaches are very proud of their team's second victory of the post season and believe that this tough win will have a positive impact on their team as they advance in the playoffs.
