Good morning baseball fans, it’s a beautiful day in Portland.  And by golly Bernard reitz, it truly is a fine summer day, a stretch of dry weather-the first time we have had 7 days without rain since april as stated by curtis smith of channel 21 . 

Portland rockets finished the regular season last nite on a winning note, rockets 5 ft. wayne panthers 4.  rockets won on a walk off single in the last inning alex delks high chopper just over the second basemans head enough to score colin Affolder from third base for the winning run.  Alex delk also had earlier hit a 3 run bomb, his 3^rd homer in 3 games and alex delk also was the winning pitcher, how about that.

Delk 2 hits, Affolder 2 hits and billy geeslin 2 hits.

Jagen millspaugh had an rbi single as Portland pounded out 8 hits to their 6

Rocket starter Austin branock went 3 inn, chandler ingle 2 geeslin and delk 1 each;\

Delks  3 run homer down the line in left put Portland ahead early and a run in the 3^rd made it 4-1 but the st. francis group tied the score in the 5^th,

Rockets finish the regular season with a 16-5 mark. 

Note  it was billy geeslin birthday .25 years old,  our gal Kristie Delaney even had a birthday cake, billy has been around us for a long time, even when he was 8 years old, singing take me out to the ballgame, and he had some good karma going last nite, 2 hits and some clutch pitching, he came in and with bases loaded fanned 2 batters of the 3 he faced. And the crowd loved it,,,wow we have a golf cart display at the park and I love it.

Special thanks to denny Affolder for his hard work on our foul lines .  also to our team of workers in Portland howard ontropf and teddy ferguson. Thanks field is talking shape it slowly dries out. Our field of dreams is getting ready for tournament action

Tournament time and Portland is the host.  Been doing regional tournament play in Portland since 1991

Runkle-Miller field will host the world baseball congress tournament starting Friday nite.

The rockets will play the ft wayne jackers  at 6:15,  the game following will be the michiganarea braves from Saginaw vs the Miami valley wolverines of Dayton.

This is the 7^th year for our border wars tournament, we have Indiana Michigan and ohio represented, former winner from Chicago the Illinois jayhawks dropped out last minute.

Quite a competitive field, Saginaw, Dayton, ft. wayne and Portland.

Rockets will start dan bollenbacher vs. the jackers fri nite. They are our rival and it will be a big game atmosphere,  strangely we played them 11 times last season, not played them once this year. 

Rockets will also play Saturday two games. As all teams will play each other in round robin fashion, winners will play the championship on Sunday at noon.

Portland vs michiganarea braves sat at noon then Portland vs Dayton around 7 30 at nite

Portland rockets thank all of our fans for a fine season and we truly have a special thing going in Portland,  thanks to my good friend and mentor Robert freemeyer for his contribution, and to also dave lyons.  Love ya in Portland guys.

Now load up the cooler,  stick in an extra for the old coach at third base and when Samantha Thomas rocks out the house and says are their any rocket fans out there, lets here ya..
