Posted Jun 3/13 - JAYS SLIP PAST CARDS

The Cards faced off against the Bluejays in game two of the tourney with Nolan Machibroda on the mound. Machibroda pitched well with defense help from Justin Walter and Tyler Stadnichuk in the field to keep the jays off the bases.  The Cards jumped into an early lead after 3 innings with a double and RBI from Stadnichuk and singles from Garrett Krawchuck and Ethan Meyer.  The Cards were also helped by a massive home run by RJ Vinding.  Although the Cards chased the numerous Jays starters from the mound, they could only muster a tie at the bottom of the 7th.  The Cards defence played very well, and it was the Bluejays that were booting the ball around for most of the game.  The only thing that continues to be a mystery is the Cards offense.  Although they are hitting the ball, it was typically right at the opponents for easy outs.  Even with all their troubles, it looked like the Cardinals were going to end with a tie, having Ethan Meyer take over for Machibroda in the bottom of the 7th.  Meyer was down to 2 outs with two strikes, when the Jays hit a walk off homer to end the game 8-7 Jays. Although the Cards lost, they showed they could compete with one of the better teams in the league.

Next up.....Muenster.
