The Saskatoon Cardinals continued to struggle to put hitting, pitching and defense together all at the same time on a consistent basis.  After beating Humboldt the week before, the players were unable to keep the momentum going on Thursday as their offense sputtered and they lost to the Blue Jays 13-2.  Errors have been a problem early in the season and the Cardinals committed five of them in their loss to the Jays.  Nolan Machibroda started on the mound for the Cardinals, but could not find the strike zone.  Machibroda was replaced by Bryden Gore and Reid Britnell who both had strong outings.  “No one wants to be 8-10 (overall and 3-6 in league play),” head coach Darren Crilly said of his team’s record. “That’s terrible. We played terrible, and if we don’t get better we are going to get embarrassed in this league.”

The team’s next home game is at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 18 against the Saskatoon A’s who are sitting at 2-7 in league play.
