Schmitt Re-signs with Redskins

Pete Schmitt will get another chance to make the Washington Redskins' roster. The Mount Horeb native and former UW-Whitewater athlete agreed to a two-year deal with the team last week and will head to the D.C. area on Tuesday to begin voluntary offseason workouts, according to his agent, Perla. Schmitt, a tight end in college who participated in two NCAA Division III championship games with the Warhawks, was in contention to make the team last season as an H-back before sustaining a rotator cuff injury in practice prior to the third preseason game. Schmitt was waived and received an injury settlement. After rehabilitating the shoulder over the winter, Schmitt took part in a 45-minute workout with the Redskins last week and received his contract offer (thanks to madison.com)

The 2007 Mount Horeb-Barneveld Vikings season, may have came to an end in the first round of the playoffs with their tough loss to Madison Edgewood, but their season accomplishments were recognized throughout the conference and the state.

Vikings Receiver Riley Koval was also selected to the All State second team offense. Riley finished the year with 1,018 yards and 7 touchdowns, which put him in the states top 10 of recievers

The Vikings finish the regular season at 3-3 in conference and 4-6 overall, putting them in 5th place.
