Lennox Falls in Super Testy Region 4A Semi Final Game

Usually great games are defined by the great teams playing or a game winning shot or even a high scoring shoot out game. However, the region semifinal game between Lennox and Dakota Valley was a great game to watch with a lot of physicality and emotion. In this article, you can read about the one of the greatest games this season.

The Orioles started off a little rough as Dakota Valley jumped out to a great start. Lennox would’ve been in trouble if it wasn’t for some nice three point shooting by Collin McEntee and Tyler Leisinger. After the first quarter, Lennox was down 15 to 11. In the second quarter, Lennox started well and got it within one when Dakota Valley started hitting their shots. The second quarter didn’t go Lennox’s way when John Prochello of Dakota Valley made a wide open layup with only 3 seconds in the half. Then Jacob Hinker dribbled to half court and pulled the trigger and he nailed it. Hinker had drained a half-court shot to make it 36-24 at half.

The second half became really testy. The Orioles started hitting their shots as they outscored Dakota Valley 16 to 11 which made it 42 to 35 with Dakota Valley still leading. In the last quarter, Lennox and their fans got as heated and as into the game as they could. It was a spectacular finish when it ended up looking like the Orioles were going to fall. Then John Oldenkamp made a great step back move to nail a three and make it 60 to 65. Then the Orioles tried to steal it which eventually led to John Prochello trying to make a layup and the Oriole defense stopped him which gave them a chance. Then the Orioles came down and attempted a series of three pointers that could’ve led to a one possession game. However, the Orioles couldn’t get the ball to fall. Hinker missed and the Orioles rebounded and then Oldenkamp missed with another Lennox rebound and then a few more Orioles missed with more rebounds. It ended with a close miss by McEntee and then a tip out of bounds by Lennox. The Orioles had officially fallen 65-60 to Dakota Valley.

After the game, Lennox and their fans became super emotional. The eight seniors were hardly able to keep their composure through the shaking of the hands. As Lennox started to walk of the court, the crowd was still shocked and disappointed. That is when Jacob Hinker gave his goodbye and thanks wave. He turned to the Lennox crowd and waved as the Oriole crowd stood up and roared for the Lennox hero. That is when the rest of the team came back on the court to say their thank you’s and hugs to their loyal family and friends. The Lennox crowd began chanting L-H-S as they were the crowd that was more happy and proud than the Dakota Valley crowd.

Sportsmanship is something that cannot be bought but more instead of it being something that is earned and given. The Oriole seniors who left after the loss held their heads high and shook hands with Dakota Valley players with respect and pride. It was a truly proud moment to be an Oriole fan. So be a happy Oriole fan and be proud of everything that the Orioles have accomplished this season. Check out the next Oriole Article which will be about the seniors and their farewell. It will also talk about the great season the Orioles had.
