Monona loses regular season finale to Montello 5-4 - Playoffs Ahead

Monona dropped a tough one to Montello on the road on Sunday 5-4.  The Braves finish the regualr season 11-7 and in 4th place in the Eastern Section.

The Braves are now the 4-seed and will travel to Montello (1-seed) for a rematch this coming Sunday, 8/13 for a 1:00pm start.  In the other sectional semi-final, Cottage Grove (2-seed) will host Portage (3-seed).  Winners will play on Sunday 8/20 for the opportunity to represent the East in the Final Four.

In other league action where the West and North began their playoff schedules, all four lower seeds (#5-#8) in the West upset their hosts in the first week.  In the North, 7-seed Black Earth upset 2-seed Sauk Prairie and 5-seed Mazomanie upset 4-seed Ashton.  Southeast begins this Sunday, same as the East.  The field is down to 16 teams all battling for a chance to reach the 2017 HTL Final Four Championship Series.

Make the trek up to Montello to cheer on your local Monona Braves as they look to advance to the Sectional Final next week.
