Wolfpack Complete Sweep of Twins

Posted May 8, 2018

The Wolfpack took care of business last Sunday by sweeping the weekend double-header with the Calgary Twins.

This game was never close as the Pack scratched 4 runs across in the first inning en route to a victory by way of the mercy rule after 5 innings, the final score was 11-0.

Curtis Smith (1-0) tossed a complete game shutout and looks to have regained his form from his early days with the Wolfpack. Smith had a hard time settling in last year after an early season biceps injury caused him to miss the entire first month of the 2017 season. He kept the Twins offense off balance and only allowed 2 hits and 2 walks while striking out 10.

After toying with the idea all winter, manager Shaun Connor made the decision to drop shortstop Carlos Charmell down to second in the batting order to start the season after he had been a reliable leadoff hitter over the past several years for the Wolfpack. Charmell responded by posting a 1.914 OPS and driving in 3 runs at the plate. He is tied for the team lead in hits and leads the team in total bases through the first 2 games while reaching base 71% of the time.

Next up for the Wolfpack is a weekend doubleheader against the Calgary Guns on Sunday, May 13th 3pm & 6pm.

Player of the week (Jul 19/20)

Russell Strilchuk

Wolfpack Rookie of the Year candidate Russell Strilchuk has broken out over the past week with two home runs, one of the walk off variety, in the Wolfpack's series against the White Sox. He led the team with six RBI this week and was just shy of batting .500 going 5-11 at the dish.
