When you are 0-6 to start a season it's easy to dwell on the negatives, and obviously there are things that need to be improved upon, but we do not want to fail to highlight the positives from Tuesday at Sullivan North, and overall thus far in 2019.
*Dalton Rouse had two base hits and knocked in a run Tuesday evening. We hope this is a sign of things to comes from the big junior left hander.
*From the three hole in the batting order, Caleb Oaks swung a much better stick on Tuesday, featuring a base hit and a screaming liner to CF to end the game. Oaks also filled in nicely at a new position, 1B.
*Freshman Caleb Royston has been thrown right into the fire at the shortstop position, and as he is learning and experiencing new things on the fly, he continues to play a solid defensive shortstop, while showing a desire to learn and improve. Royston has displayed a nice throwing arm from across the diamond as well.
*Freshman, Kyler Lewis showed on Tuesday what we as a coaching staff already knew about him, and that is he has the ability to play multiple positions well, manning center field in the JV game and coming off the bench for an injured, Conor Burleson to play 3B in the Varsity game.
*Freshman, Morgan Lyons has thrown back to back quality conference starts for the Bulldogs. On Tuesday Lyons did not walk a Sullivan North batter, struck out five, and 50 of his 69 total pitches were for strikes!
*Senior, Devin Riddle continues to be consistent and dependable in relief for the Hampton Bulldog baseball club.
*Junior, Weston Street has displayed versatility in handling the second base, third base, backup shortstop, and backup catcher positions.
