It's rare for a high school baseball team to face the injury problems the Hampton Bulldog baseball club has in 2019. We began the campaign with ace LHP, Dalton Rouse on the shelf with tendinitis in his rotator cuff. The big left hander has only pitched two innings in 2019. Sophomore RHP, Josh Owens did not step on the mound in the month of March with tenderness in his elbow that has been a problem from his youth. Freshman RHP, Conor Burleson injuried his tricep making a throw from 3B at Sullivan North in Varsity action. Freshman, Kyler Lewis recently broke his tail bone in a fall on campus.
In high school baseball injuries impact everything. With multiple players often moving around the field based on who is pitching, we have had less defensive options at certian positions and less options at the designated hitter slot because being unable to play the field, Dalton Rouse had to be the everyday DH. As we look to continue to improve this season, and look to make a run in the postseason, we can't help but look foward to a healthier 2020.
