A high school baseball season is jam packed. As we all know, it's two months of go, go, go. Today, the Unaka Rangers travel to Scotty Bunton Field to conclude our conference set. Freshman, Morgan Lyons will take the ball for the home ball club. Sophomore RHP, Josh Owens is available after throwing only 24 pitches on Monday at Unaka.
Likewise, Devin Riddle is also available after only throwing 24 pitches on Monday. Freshman RHP, Caleb Royston was pulled after 34 pitches, primarily to allow us to bring him back fresh on Thursay for a start at the Providence Academy Knights. Under the pitch count/rest rules, managing a pitching staff is more strategic than ever.
Last night at Unaka, as we battled back to drop a 15-10 final after being down 11-2, we can look back to routine plays not being made that led to our undoing. Caleb Oaks did pitch three innings of solid relief. McKinley Kuhn, in his first career Varsity action, did reach base three times, including his first career Varsity base knock. We battled, fought hard, but in the end miscues doomed us in Stoney Creek.
