Baseball Bulldogs move to 3-0

In a wild game that featured a little bit of everything, junior, Josh Owens made sure it featured a win for the home team, as the lefty swinger scored Caleb Royston on a game winning walk-off base knock on Friday night in the first ever game under the lights at Scotty Bunton Field.

Game Notes:
*Weston Street continued his multi hit parade with three base knocks, as he has had at least two hits in all three of our games.

*Owens also hit a 2B (Double) for the home team.

*Freshman, Brody Hicks calmly collected an RBI on a sacrifice fly to LF, and later, laid down a nice sacrifice bunt, a day after failing to get a bunt down at Happy Valley, so a nice adjustment for the young lefty.

*Landen Street quietly collected three walks on offense vs. Hancock County, but his potentially game saving catch in the right-center gap with Indian runners on 2B and 3B in the top of the 6th inning was loud! No OF in Northeast, Tennessee gets as good as read on fly balls as Mr. Landen.

*Hunter Haynes came up big in relief of starter, Caleb Royston in the 4th inning, as he inherited a bases loaded situation, and although one Indian run scored on a walk, Haynes did not allow Hancock County a game tying or go-ahead hit.  Twelve of his eighteen pitches were thrown or strikes, so the big senior, who we recently thought may be out due to shoulder tenderness, will get the ball again soon!

*Dalton Rouse has been through so much as a Bulldog hurler, from being a top of the line ace pitcher as only a sophomore, to only being able to pitch 6 1/3 innings as  2019 junior, to earning two wins on the mound during the first week of the 2020 season.  After earning a win Monday vs. FCA, Rouse did not surrender an earned run on Friday night in 3 IP of relief work, throwing 57 pitches, striking out seven Indian batters.  We are happy for the big senior.

More notes coming Monday morning....
