For a Hampton High School baseball team that had not lost a game since the 2019 District Tournament Play-In Game, Monday, March 15 was a harsh reminder of how tough this game can be. Providence went 2-0 against Hampton in 2018. In 2019 Hampton returned the favor and swept the Knights in the two games the teams played. On Monday, a much improved Providence team left Scotty Bunton Field without surrendinering a run and scoring 10 of their own. Caleb Royston, McKinley Kuhn, and Morgan Lyons had base knocks for the home team, and Royston pitched four innnings of good relief, only giving up one earned run.
It's baseball, so it's quickly back to work preparing for the next team. That team is Johnson County this Thursday, March 18 in Mountain City. First pitch is scheduled for 5:00.
