Gut Wrenching Loss at Providence Academy!
Posted March 22, 2021
It's high school baseball. You are going to win some. You are going to lose some. You are going to play well at times. Other times you are not going to play as well, but there are times, certain times, where you just feel like you give a game away. Sure, you credit the opposing ball club who is playing the game, but there are times you just feel like you almost hand the game to the opposing team. Monday, March 22 was such game for the Bulldogs.
Up 3-0 after two innings and 3-2 after four innings, mental and physical errors doomed the visiting ball team. The positives should not be ignored and the negatives need to be lessons learned. Bulldog Baseball will bounce back vs. the visiting Johnson County Longhorns on Thursday.
Providence Game Notes:
*Junior, Caleb Royston pitched into the 6th inning for Hampton. In one of those frustrating things, Royston's final stat line will not indicate how well he pitched.
*Senior, Parker Henry followed his big offensive Saturday vs. Happy Valley with a big offenisve Monday at Providence. Henry went 3-4 with a 2B and two bunt singles, one with two outs and a runner on 3B in the 2nd inning, which saw him score the run from 3B and find himself safe at 1B.
*Freshman rookie, Chance Point continues to impress. The young man collected two hits, both on infield singles, and stole two bases. He made a nice defensive play early in the game when a shot was hit off of First Baseman, McKinley Kuhn's body and the ball bounced to Point, who was husting in backing up Kuhn, and then retired the Providence batter on a 4-3 putout.
*Senior, Josh Owens and junior, Morgan Lyons both had base knocks for the visiting Bulldogs. Lyons collected an RBI on his hit in the 7th.
