Weird, Disappointing Loss At Sullivan North!
Posted March 29, 2021
Our pitching line pretty much sumarizes our loss at Sullivan North on Monday, March 29. We struck out 14 Sullivan North Raider batters, with Brody Hicks leading the way, striking out eight in 3 1/3 innings out of the Bulldog Bullpen. However, we also walked six Raider batters and plunked (hit) six North batters. You only need to collect 21 outs to win a high school baseball game. We collected 14 of those via the strikeout, but it was not enough at Sullivan North.
Sullivan North Notes:
*Parker Henry continues to be a magician with a wand in his hands when he is bunting the baseball, as the number two hitter in our batting order has collected three base hit bunts on the season.
*When we timed our players in the 60 yard dash and collected their 90 feet runnings times, Chance Point was the fastest player on the team! That speed has paid dividends for Point, as the athletic freshman collected another base hit on Monday on a ball that did not leave the infield.
*Caleb Royston, hitting in the cleanup spot on Monday, hit a deep single in the right-center gap that brought Seth Hughes (who pinch hit for Josh Owens in the 7th and reached on a fielders choice) around to 3B.
*McKinley Kuhn collected an opposite field base hit in the top of the 6th for the visiting Bulldogs.
*Morgan Lyons, hitting in the leadoff spot on Monday, led off the top of the 7th with a base knock to right field.
*Hitting from the fifth slot in the batting order, Collin Morgan drew a walk in the top of the 4th for Hampton.
*Sophomore, Josh Whitson struck out the only two Raiders he faced in his short stint in relief.
*The Bulldogs have stolen 13 bases in 16 attempts this season for an impressive 81% clip, but since the spring of 2018, the Hampton baseball club has stolen 187 bags in 206 attempts for a staggering 91% success rate!
*First pitch on Tuesday, March 30th is at 6:30 at Scotty Bunton Field. Caleb Royston will take the ball on the mound for the home Bulldogs.
