2021 And Career Stat Notes

*Morgan Lyons finished the season with .400 batting average, tying him with Dru Owens (2018) for the highest single season batting average since Coach Perkins took over as skipper.

*Josh Owens finished his career with a .327 batting average and whopping .490 career on base percentage.  Owens' 61 walks since 2018 is 31 more than the next closest player (Weston Street).  Josh had wins against Happy Valley and Johnson County, pitched good ball at North Greene, and pitched clutch in the District IA Tournament out of the pen against Sullivan North and in his start against University High.

*Parker Henry finished with a .338 batting average, including four doubles and three triples.  Just as importantly, Henry played a very good centerfield, coming up especially big on defense in the District Tournament.

*Our pitching staff finished with a very solid team ERA of 3.25.

*Rookie, Chance Point, what more can be said....  The kid finished with a .384 batting average to go along with 31 runs scored and 32 stolen bases!  He also knocked in 16 runs and made some good plays in his time at third base.

*Caleb Royston led the team with 63 strikeouts on the mound.  Roy and Josh Whitson were tied with four wins apiece.  Whitson had an exceptional 1.17 ERA in his 30 innings pitched.

*McKinley Wayne Kuhn had an impressive 25 RBI, primarily from the seventh slot in the batting order.  Kuhn only struck out eight times on the season in 88 plate appearances.

*Conor Jones, who had not played baseball since "coach pitch," hit .260, had a .400 on base percentage (second on the team with 15 walks), and provided defensive versatility by playing 2B and OF.

*Collin Morgan had a solid postseason, collecting four hits, with two of them being doubles.  He also made some nice, clutch plays in right field.

*Josh Whitson showed flashes of brilliance all season at the shortstop position.  He has "clean" mechanics/movements and an accurate throwing arm.

*LHP, Brody Hicks really came on as a pitcher in April.  He made a gutsy start against a tough, tough North Greene ball club in the District Tournament.  He could be poised for a big 2022 on the mound.
