When you win 14 of your final 21 in 2021, and are only 5 outs from Region play, you feel good about your run, but being so close to Region play leaves you wanting more, especially in a tough, tough 2-1 loss to University High in the 2021 District Tournament. In saying all of that, we cannot help but feel good about the 2022 baseball season. With a school record 24 wins (11 at home, 11 on the road, and 2 at a neutral site), a second place finish in the District Tournament, 2nd place finish in the Region, and a trip to Substate (officially called the Sectional), it has been a historic, noteworthy season. From our 6-0 start until now, Hampton High School Baseball has played good baseball.
As we look forward to our Substate game on Friday, we find ourselves matched up against the same team that ended the 1998 team's Substate season, the Coalfield Yellow Jackets! First pitch will be at Coalfield on Friday afternoon at 5:30. We are honored to have the opportunity, want to earn our way to Hampton Baseball's first ever State Tournament berth, but are also appreciative of where we are now.
