SW Jets Soar Opening Weekend!
Posted October 26, 2022
The opening weekend of the regular season proved to be a successful one for the SW Jets! Hitting the road to Rosenort, the Jets looked to play spoiler at the Pembina Valley Twisters home opener. Right from the opening faceoff it was clear that the game was going to be a physical affair. Backstopped by Zaiden McDonald-Horvath, the SW Jets stuck to their game plan and while emotions ran high, the Jets proved to be too much for the hometown Twisters with the final score being 10-2 for the visitors! The performance of the game went to Logan Barnabe who had a multiple goal game and solid back-checking all night!
After having Saturday off to recover, the Jets held their home opener in Niverville against the Snipers. It was clear from the opening face-off that the Snipers came to play and established a fast pace and solid fore-check. The SW Jets opened the scoring but the Snipers answered quickly. The game went back and forth but in the second the Jets were able to get a couple of goals and didn’t look back from there, eventually securing a 5-2 victory. Derek Poirier got the start in net for the Jets and Chase Hopkins was named performer of the game with a solid two way game at Centre.
The SW Jets next action is Saturday October 29th at the CRRC Arena in Niverville where they host the Blizzard in what should be another fast game.
The next day the Jets hit the road to Lac du Bonnet where they face the Northern Knights in an afternoon tilt!
