Posted August 6, 2011
The fans were treated to some exciting playoff action during Friday's games. In a must win game against Pemina Hills, Nolan Powell scored a run early in the first with no further runs scored until the top of the sixth inning when Paul Esteves drove one over the fence for a home run. Brady Bouchad was able to steal home on a wild pitch making the score 3-0 going into the bottom of seven. Troy Allard pitched all seven innings and with great offensive backing from his team shut out Pembina Hills with a final pitch count of 100 and no runs scored against them.
The Sox ended the round-robin Provincial Championship Pool A with a 3-1 record advancing them to Saturday's semi-final game. They will face the Winnipeg South Chiefs. Game time is 12:00 in Reston. Winner of that game will advance to the championship final at 3:00.
