*****************08 FALL PLAYOFFS*******************

"Mustangs Advance to Championship Game" (W)
In what was the coldest game of the season and maybe the coldest game some of the Mustangs have ever played in, the Mustangs grinded it out and beat Team Legacy by a score of 5-1. This game started out disastrous as pitcher Justin Spurrier was hit in the jaw by a hard line drive and went down trying to shake it off. As his jaw was swelling like a balloon and blood was dripping from his nose and mouth he took a few minutes to collect himself before returning back to the mound to pitch 9 innings striking out 17 batters and only allowing 1 run which was unearned. It was a heroic and masterful performance that would eventually lead to Spurrier being named MVP of the playoffs.
Offensively, The Mustangs jumped on Legacy in the second and third innings putting up 2 runs in each inning and just coasted on those runs for the rest of the game. Jeff, Dallas, Jordan and big Nick were where the offense came from.

"Just Another Day in the Life" (W)
Mustangs come out, bats a blazin' and put up 13 runs in the first innning to put the Black Sox away early en route to their first playoff win of the Fall Season. The final score was 20-4 in 5 innings of play. Justin Spurrier got the start on the mound getting the win pitching 3 innings while Keoki and CJ cleaned up the mess.
Offensively, the Mustangs were led by Jeff Brignola, Dallas Tracy, and Jordan Judd who seemed to be on base everytime you looked up. We couldn't of asked for a better effort as a team in our first playoff game, let's keep it rolling!

"Mustangs With Another Strong Offensive Showing" (W)
The Mustangs put another notch in the win column bright and early Sunday morning as they defeated the Black Sox by a final score of 15-3. In total the Mustangs pounded out 20 hits in the game.
Justing Spurrier pitched his second consecutive complete game striking out 14 and only allowing 1 earned run in the game giving Justin the "Stallion" award for the week.
Offensively, the Mustangs were on their game with everyone contributing at least one hit in the game. Everyone in the lineup had at least 1 RBI as well, except Jeff but he was to busy scoring the runs, as a leadoff man should. Joe Finateri hit his 4th "dinger"(pun intended) of the season when he hit a colossus homerun that careened off a pole well beyond the fence and made that special "ding" sound as he announced his presence with authority.
The Finateri's really came to play as they piled up 10 total hits, 7 Rbi's, and 7 runs scored amung the four of them. Jordan Judd also increased his Rbi total for the season with his whopping 4 in a single game almost matching his season total!
- sidenote: Coach continued to stuggle defensively making 2 more errors proving furthermore that he truly is a defensive liability -

"Mustangs Remain Unbeaten, J-Spur Does It All" (W)
The Mustangs showed that no lead is safe. Trailing by 2 runs in the bottom of the 8th, the Mustangs mounted a comeback by scoring 4 runs. The coach could of went to the bullpen for the top of the 9th but decided to stick with J-Spur and it paid off; J-Spur pitched a strong 9th inning mowing down the heart of the Bulls lineup. Justin Spurier only made one mistake in 9 innings as he gave up a 3-run homerun in the 2nd inning but he settled down nicely only allowing 1 more run the rest of the game. He ended up with15 strikeouts.
The big rally in the 8th was started with a single from Mike Finateri then Dallas with a solid hit that the shortstop couldn't make a play on. CJ then wore a fastball right in the middle of the back that loaded the bases. Spurrier then came through with a huge single that not only tied the game but ended up taking the lead when an errant throw got away from the 2nd baseman. Next, Jordan Judd did his job and scored Spurrier with a ground ball to second giving the Mustangs their two run lead as they went on to win with a final score of 7-5.
