Danvers and Marblehead C Team Match Up

Sunday, September 7th the Danvers C Team Falcons defense was put to the test. Marblehead’s C Team’s defense barely had a chance to play. There were plenty of opportunities for the Cheerleaders for both squads to cheer their team on.

Marblehead starts the game with a kick off to Danvers. Falcons offense starts with 3 carries by Kyle Geanoulis, Chris Behen, and Richard Martino but with not enough progress on the field Jason Trefry punts the ball on the 4th down. Falcons defense comes in with tackles from Dan Rizzo, Kevin Smith and Skylar Falite. With Marblehead’s loss of yards, after being tackled in the backfield, the first quarter ends leaving the Falcons to start off the 2nd.

It is 1st and 10 at Danvers own 20. Geanoulis receives the first hand off and runs up the field avoiding many Marblehead tackle attempts to complete the first touchdown of the game. After a failed conversion point attempt, Falcons are in the lead 6 – 0. Alex Martin kicks off the ball but Marblehead recovers the on side kick. Falcons Grant Roach, Trefry, Neil Farmer, Josh Salvo, Martino, Mark Dellacroce, and Jodi Desmond all make great defensive plays. Finally the Falcons take over the ball after a 14 play offensive battle from Marblehead.

The game resumes with Marblehead receiving the kick off after a great half time show put on by the cheerleaders. Falcons defense is once again in for a long play. 11 plays later with great tackling and defensive plays by Drew Salvo, Matt Rybicki, Dellacroce, Martin, and many others it is the end of the 3rd quarter with the Falcons still in the lead 6-0.

Falcons defense Cameron MacLeod, Matt Rizzo, John Thomas, Dan Rizzo, with other teammates put up an incredible fight but Marblehead forges on to get their first touchdown and successful conversion points to take the lead 8-6. Marblehead kicks off the ball to the Danvers 20 yard line. Geanoulis receives the kick and weaves his way through the Marblehead defense for a touchdown, giving the Falcons the lead 14-8. Falcons kick off leaving Marblehead about halfway up the field. On a pass play by Marblehead, Falcons Martin knocks down the pass into Dan Rizzo’s waiting arms for the interception. The next play has Desmond snapping the ball to Josh Koen who passes the ball to Geanoulis and Behen for running plays, then Geanoulis takes the ball in for a touchdown setting the Falcons for the 20-8 victory over Marblehead.

Sunday, September 14th C Teams Danvers vs Lynnfield

This game was one of the best, hard fought matchups between Danvers and Lynnfiel. Even with the wet, slippery field to make running the ball hard, Danvers started the game off quickly with an 8 point lead. Lynnfield counters with a touchdown on a pass play evening up the score. Just before the halftime whistle Lynnfield sends out another pass to bring the score to 16-8.

Both teams come in ready to play hard for the second half. Danvers Kicked the ball to Lynnfield with Eddie Tylus recovering the ball to give Danvers back possession. Quarterback, Josh Koen tried to lead his team through many plays but the Lynnfield front line was there and ready. After many plays and not much progress thanks to Danvers defensive players John Thomas, Jason McCannon, Neil Farmer, Aidan Moulton, Dan Rizzo, Kevin Smith, Jodi Desmond, Josh Salvo, and many others -  Lynnfield loses the ball to a strip by Alex Martin. Kyle Geanoulis put the block out that allowed Martin to run the ball up the field for a touchdown. Danvers failed to get the 2 point conversion leaving the game to end 16-14 with Lynnfield walking away with the win

Danbers 6  Newburyport 8

Danvers lost a close game 8-6 in the mud bowl at Newburyport. Playing in six
inches of mud the Danvers offense drove the ball deep into Newburyport
territory on the gutsy running of Chris Behen, Alex Martin and Eddie
Tylus. Kyle Geanoulis capped off the drive with a six yard touchdown
run in the second quarter but the conversion failed making the score
6-0 Danvers. Later in the second quarter the Danvers defense had
Newburyport faced with a 4th down and 20 yards to go for the first
down. Newburyport was able to pick up the first down when they
connected on a 21 yard pass play. A couple of plays later Newburyport
scored on another 20 yard pass completion and made the two point
conversion giving Newburyport the 8-6 lead. The second half was
dominated by both defenses with Danvers getting some solid defensive plays from Drew Salvo, Josh Salvo, Matt Rizzo, Skyler Falite, Alex Martin and Richie Martino who had a key interception to kill a Newburyport
drive. Late in the fourth quarter, with under two minutes to play,
quarterback Josh Koen had Danvers marching down the field into
Newburyport territory but Danvers turned the ball over on a fumble on
the final play resulting in a final score of Newburyport 8 and Danvers 6.
