Glenvar, Brookville girl's teams both #2 in state AP Poll

Two local girl's high school basketball teams rank #2 in the Commonwealth, in the first Virginia Associated Press poll of 2011.

In Group A, Glenvar ranks #2 with a 10-0 record, trailing J.I. Burton (10-1) by just two points in the poll. The Radford girl's team comes in at #6 (9-2), with the Floyd girl's tied for 9th at 6-4.

In Group AA, Brookville's girl's team at 10-0 ranks #2 in the state, trailing Millbrook by 13 points in the poll, despite both teams having the same record (10-0). Lord Botetourt's girl's team is #7 at 10-3.

And in Group AAA, the Halifax County girl's team cracked the top 10, coming in at #7 with a 11-0 record.

By defeating Floyd County 49-42 in their first Three Rivers District game on Tuesday, the Lady Highlanders are now 9-0 on the season.
