Posted Aug 5/14 - Successful 2014 season

The 6th Grade Thunder would like to thank all of this year's sponsors for their support which helped make this year possible.  It was a challenging year with injury's on and off the field but it did not stop the kids from playing.  Entering play in the month of July we were fighting for first place when we suffered our first 4 game losing streak in two years.  We were in the games but unfortunately the ball is round and sometimes bounces in favor of your opponent.  None the less we ended the season in 4th place, 3 games out of first with an overall record of 19-12.  It was a successfull tournament season as we missed the semi finals in Germantown by the tie breaker, made the West Bend Father's Day Championship game as defending tournament champions taking 2nd place to very good Green Bay team and in The New Berlin Heat Tournament lost our semi-final game to Tournament Champions; Rally Baseball.  We are looking forward to next year and wish all of the kids success in their future endeavors no matter what they may be.

Posted Jun 6/14 - Ketter, Miller lead Thunder to victory!

It was one of those grind it out games for the Thunder but they did just enough, beating BOSS Blue 3-2.  With the win, the Thunder boys are riding a 6 game winning streak and are currently 9-2, 7-1 in league play.  The Thunder bats were quiet most of the night but the pitching of Joey Pettit and Gavin Hinckley was outstanding and the defense behind them was fantastic, committing zero errors, giving the Thunder a chance.  The key moment of the game occured in the bottom of the 5th with the Thunder trailing 2 to 1.  Noah Doedens reached on an error, and swiped second base.  After an out was recorded, Kevin Lemens took advantage of another break, advancing to first on a passed ball on strike three.  Doedens went to third and the Thunder had a chance.  Ketter, who singled sharply in his last at bat, executed a perfect suicide squeeze to score Doedens and tie the game at 2.  With Lemens at third, Jack Miller provided the huge lift the Thunder would need.  With two strikes, Miller sharply singled to center, scoring Lemens and the Thunder led 3-2.  Great pitching and defense held that lead and the Thunder walked away victorious.  The Thunder look to keep things rolling with a game Tuesday vs. Germantown Jaguars and then the big Fathers Day Tournament this weekend at the West Bend Little League Diamonds!

Posted May 15/14 - Thunder win, improve to 2-0!

The West Bend Thunder 6th Grade improved to 2-0 with an impressive victory over a talented Oconomowoc 5 O's team 7-4 on Wednesday night in Oconomowoc.  Pitching and defense have been the point of emphasis and once again, the pitching and defense led the way.  Some outstanding late inning situational hitting didn't hurt either.  The visiting Thunder scored in the first inning as Joey Pettit led off with a booming double to left field.  C.J. Henschel struck out with Pettit stealing third and when the ball got passed the catcher, Pettit raced around and came all the way in to score with Henschel reaching first on the play.  After a steal of second and a passed ball put Henschel at third, Noah Doedens continued his impressive start to the year at the plate with a double to left center to plate Henschel and give the Thunder a 2-0 lead.  The 5 O's came right back with 2 unearned runs of their own in the bottom of the first and scored again in the 2nd for a 3-2 5 O's lead.  Another Pettit hit, and a bases loaded walk to Gavin Hinckley in the top of the 3rd, tied the game at 3-3.

Posted Jun 17/13 - Thunder 5th grade start poorly, finish with a Championship!

It wasn't the start to the West Bend Father's Day Classic that the Thunder boys were looking for but the finish was fantastic as they came all the way back to win the Tournament Championship.  In pool play, the Thunder played below their expectations, falling to the Mequon Heat Red 6-4 and the Grafton Jr. Hawks 8-3.  The Thunder were lackluster in both games, playing well below their ability.  Fortunately, pool play was only for seedings for the single elimination portion of the 8 team Tournament.  The Thunder would be seeded 3rd and have to face a 2 seeded Tosa Titan team in the Quarter Finals.
