MCCOOK LAKE — The Outlaws defeated the Dakota Valley Panthers 8-6 on Saturday in high school baseball action.
Justin Davis started on the mound for the Outlaws, throwing 4 2/3 innings and allowing eight hits, five runs and three walks. He struck out two.
Brian Vermeulen pitched 2 1/3 innings to pick up the win. He allowed three hits, one run and he struck out two.
With the game tied at six at the top of the seventh inning, Cameron Deinert hit a double with two outs that scored Vermuelen and Cody London from second and third base that gave MV-P-W the final edge.
Deinert had four hits, London had three hits, and Renken, Karst and Vermeulen each had one hit.
Deinert and London each scored two runs. Vermeulen ended the game with three runs and Cody Renken and Kellam Karst each scored runs for the Outlaws.
The Outlaws (1-0) are back in action today against Wagner/Avon/Andes Central. Game time is set for 5:30 p.m. in Mount Vernon with the JV playing before the varsity. |
