Good morning baseball fans, it’s a beautiful day in Portland.

Wed twi-nite doubleheader in Celina, rockets rolling with a 4-0 record. our club has some swagger,  with many Portland fans on hand, 28 players we competed with our grand lake rivals.

Rockets go down swinging, losing 4-3 and 5-1

Both games the Portland team was in a position to win,  my sister mickey would also make that claim while playing the dice game aggravation,,,be in a position to win

We just didn’t climb that mountain

All our undoing came disappointedly, with 2 out

Tied 3-3 in the 7^th ,  eathan daggett who was masterful in his 2 inn was touched in his 3^rd inn on a 2 out double and a controversial safe call at first base as the mariners drove in the winning run on a ground ball that Justin Marrero made a fine play on , firing to billy wellman at first and we only could wish to see a replay.

Rockets had a good pitching performance by starter billy geeslin who went 3 innings

Giving up 2 runs on 2 hits. Tyler Reynolds gave up one unearned run in the 4^th before daggett took the hill.

The rockets out hit the marines in both games

7 hits 2 each by bryan brudi and Justin Marrero,, Marrero with 2 rbi  sidenote:  Marrero was drafted out of high school 4 years ago by the white sox in the 32 round

game 2

dan bollenbacher rocket ace returned to form,,, and put us in a position to win ---

dan left us ahead 1-0 in the 5^th  Marrero scoring our only run in the 4^th on a 2  out error,

the big righthander from berne surrendered 1 hit with 5  ks but

again the 2 out bug bit.

Cody Harrison with 2 out  loaded the bases, travis gray then gave up a 3 run double and the game had a new leader.

Rockets gave up 2 runs in the 6^th  all with 2 out also.  Really a  managers nitemare 6 walks with 2 out in those last 2 inn.  That issue will be addressed

 Logan hug, marreo, grant hendershot, and jose Gonzalez from carrasco Venezuela a new catcher who came with bollenbacher all had hits,  ben smith also had a single, a walk and a stolen base..

Ben a rocket mvp from last year now moves on to the medicine hat mavericks in the Canadian league.. good luck ben we will miss ya

Good to see don and marilyn maloy who made the trip and also marv bruns along with many other of our ohio baseball friends.  And happy birthday gary miller of Wabash ohio

Rockets resume action sat in a weekend double header in Cincinnati

Sat vs. Cincinnati chiefs at 2 pm at  roselawn park mitch waters who pitched a no hitter vs. them 2 years ago the starter

Sun vs. Cincinnati cobalts at 11  am  at Lakota west hs.

We wont win em all but we we’ll win the next one
