Good morning baseball fans, it’s a beautiful day in Portland. On a most pleasant tues evening in Portland at runkle=miller field, before perhaps a record crowd, the Portland

Rockets win over the summit city sluggers, 4-1

Big crowd, big event big fun,,,,,,it was crossroads nite,,,,those guys rock, games prizes freebies,,,,,did I hear david lyons won a grill?

dont you love it when everything works out?!   People came, shared, enjoyed, baseball game in 2hours 9 min, 9 inn really,  people ate, and even jim bunner fished out $67 in the

world famous crossroads money machine. Bob clark won money, and you just cant beat fun for a good time.  And portlands baseball team won in impressive fashion. 

With the ball in the hands of rocket veteran mitch waters, the game was played with great pace, mitch went 8 inn. Struck out 13 as he scattered 3 hits. Justin miller pitched the 9^th  giving up one run on a wild pitch.

Rockets had 8 hits,  Dalton tinsley led off the game with a bang and it was on like donky kong, tinsley stole second and scored on a single by geoff bowers,.  Tinsley earned the praise for his sparkplug play by commercial review reporter ray cooney.

Logan barnes also from kokomo hit a clutch double in the 7^th to score 2 runs, barnes and bowers had 2 hits,  catcher cody crumlauf had an rbi single as well.

Summit city sluggers have a fine mix of players from Manchester and Huntington. Coach mark Delagarza is a twins scout and highly respected baseball guru in the area, also assisting coach mcclain , head coach from norwell,\

This club will be in our Portland tournament aug. 1

Also a special highlight of the evening, all star break allowed our ss of the last couple years zach tanner returned. Zach plays independent ball for the frontier greys .  lots of funsy banner and ribbing when that dude is around.   Even the sharing well after the game, recounting stories and craziness till well after the game made me laugh.

i have been asked if I might write a book and rocket lore,,,,,dean Monroe probably could,

well we could have wrote many a chapter on zach tanner’s return,,,,egged on by waters of course, and dan bollenbacher and tyler Reynolds.  My hat is off to these guys, they have traveled the miles.

1^st pitch was thrown out by young rocket fan dustin pearson and we finished 2 hours 9 min. later, unheard of in 9 inn.

My favorite play of the nite a smash to 3^rd baseman alex delk, fires to second to barnes for one, relay to mccownan at 1^st double play, 2 for the price of one, around the horn even,

Tanners batting practice home runs were pretty cool too

Special to see former rockets at the park, chris hearn, larry chittum, steve takats, butch gray, paul minnich, gary sautbine, ,,,,also ray gerber from Geneva on hand.
