Portland rockets 8 grand lake mariners 3

Good morning baseball fans, it’s a beautiful day in Portland.  And happy month of june.

Portland rockets back to work tues evening at Montgomery field in Celina , rockets win 8-3 over the grand lake mariners .  after weekend washouts with ft. wayne and lima, the rockets were eager for action.  Big story line here is big dan Bollenbacher, our man dan was the bulldog, going 8 inn. Giving up 3 runs and 6 hits,  109 pitches.  Dan had an answer for each inning but

Gave up 2 home runs to the mariners 1^st baseman Bollinger .

Rockets trailed 2-0 in the 6^th, but put together rocket rallies with 2 tallies in the 6^th , 3 in the 7^th and 3 more in the 8^th. Catcher TJ Lindstrand from Noblesville had 2 hits including a key double and drove in 5 runs on the day.  Brandon Reamon of Dayton had 3 hits and scored 2 runs, Dalton Tinsley of Kokomo scored 2 runs with 1 hit, Alex Delk of Muncie had 2 hits and 2 rbi,  rockets outhit the home team 9-6,  in fact all 9 hits came from the top 5 players in the lineup,   and still Mariner pitchers, and they threw several struck out 15 batters. 

This must be improved upon.

But the rockets came back and won the contest, 2hr. 20 min.  I saw johny

Cueto threw 93 pitches last nite for the reds,  we will take dan and his 109.

We knew going into the game we were pitching short, felt like barney fife with his one bullet, but are one shot was a big cannon in dan bollenbacher.

Kyle Selvey pitched a gutsy 9^th to close the deal and his batterymate was lucas Hendee

Like old time, they were pitcher catcher last year for jay county high school.

Celina coach Sam Slavic was point on, he said, “you played a clean game.”

No errors and many a stellar play in the field. Key in the game, OF Ryan Penley from Sidney oh, threw out a man heading to 3^rd from right field.

Keep in mind, this is exhibition and we aren’t supposed to win ,  and coach lea Selvey in attendance said afterward, they have guys from panama and texas and we have guys from Dunkirk and redkey, true but aint that what makes this game great!  As coach Doug Tinsley stated , great team win!

Many rocket rooters on hand, the scott bollenbacher family, the selveys, and noticeably having a good time, our friends from the pit stop, love ya gary miller, Kathy miller,  bill miller, hey we almost had enough millers to make a 6 pack.  Hey we love success stories how about those frt. Recovery Indians.

Rockets win 8-3 , record moves to 2-1.  and tonite a rematch,  grand lake mariners come to Portland 7 pm game at runkle-miller field
