Good morning baseball fans, it’s a beautiful day in Portland. On the warmest day  of summer thurs nite, a day it didn’t rain, the Portland rockets stayed hot, rockets do baseball business the right way, win 6-4 over summit city sluggers from ft. wayne.

Rocket train rolls, record now 6-1.

Mitch waters was tagged with 2 runs in the 3^rd, but mitch held firm, 6 inn. 8 Ks 2 walks, 2 hits.  93 pitches,

Since we had rainouts 3 game chances in a row, big dan bollenbacher made a rare relief appearance, unscathed, conner milligan gave up 2 runs in the 9^th before tyler Reynolds came on to close the deal.

Rockets scored one in the 4^th, took the lead in the 5^th.. key hits rbi single by Thomas mccowan , 2 run single kyle Selvey, billy geeslin 3 hits and an rbi, 2 hits and a double by Dalton tinsley, rockets outhit their foes, 10-4 tinsley had the only extra base hit.

Rockets also flashed some leather, in fact the last out of the game, a ground ball in the hole between short and third, ss alex delk backhanded and showed off his arm, throwing across the diamond, nipping the dude atg first.

Rockets started slow, their pitcher was a good one, nic mccoy going to central fla. From albion, he pitched 2 summers ago for Portland, but we continued to work on him, elevated his pitch count, then caved em in 2 runs in the 5^th 2 in the 6^th 1 in the 7^th.

It was hot, umpire dave stauffer of berne had his light blue shirt and you could see the home plate ump was soaked.

2 hr. 14 min in this titanic struggle, and as was mentioned, these boys of summer worked their baseball business. A very substantial crowd on hand, bring those golf carts and come see us this Sunday 1pm.  Brad miller suggested you come to the park and let us grill for you and have a picnic at the park.  John welker had his rocket shirt on ..

6 wins and but one loss, stay humble in victory, be silent in defeat, these guys from Dunkirk, redkey, marion, kokomo, Noblesville, berne, Muncie, Dayton, are know the game, they are there cause they want to be and they work it.  These are our ambassodors for Portland, couldn’t pick a better bunch.  Much to say about tradition and these guys are on board and love it.

Rockets will not play ft wayne Saturday, no game as they have begged off, not good business there.,  but we will be home Sunday 1pm at the corner of western and blaine, vs. the ft. wayne marlins,  I understand their starting pitcher Andrew shepard, son of keith former rocket, has signed with the Arizona diamondbacks,

Good for him.

We just  bought 10 dozen new baseballs for $550 now lets cut the field around the diamond
