Sat. june 26 portland rockets 19 miami valley dragons 0

Good morning baseball fans, it’s a beautiful day in Portland!

Portland Rocket baseball in winning form Saturday at Runkle-Miller Field,  just the second home game of the season and it was a good one; Portland all over Miami valley dragons, 19-0.   The offense clicked,  7 runs in the first and it was on like donkey kong,  The Dragons never recovered.  All but one starting player scored at least one run , Captain Heath Williams scored 4 times himself and hit the fence with a long double to left.  But the key offensive performer on this day was Rocket right fielder from Muncie, Mark Isenberg. Mark hit not one, but 2 massive blasts over the left field fence for back to back grand slam homeruns.  In the 4th,  Isenberg sent a missle over the scoreboard with the bases loaded, then in the 5th he did it again almost in the same place.   The odds must be incredible and that feat is something you would read in “faces in the crowd” Sports Illustrated.  Mark, 23-year-old Ball State player, said it was the first grand salami he hit in his life. And both of his brothers were there to witness.  Bryce Cook scored 3 times on 2 hits. We had 19 runs on 12 hits, what an early fireworks display!  Bill Geeslin and Will Walters did the mound duties for Portland and shut out the Dragons on 2 hits. The Rockets are now 2 and 0 at home and build up for a nice homestand,  Tuesday nite at 7pm the Shady Nook Jackers come to town, and on Wednesday, Decatur comes in. Shady Nook won the Ft. Wayne NABF regional last year to earn a world series trip to Louisville.  Portland made it to the championship game at the Cincinnati regional before bowing to eventual champion Detroit Jetbox. Come out Tuesday...Ft. Wayne vs. Portland. Eathan Tribolet will be the starter. More fireworks in store at the corner. Speaking of fireworks, what a show at Musicfest in Geneva—great job by the Geneva fire department. We will have some fireworks Tuesday at the corner of Western and Blaine, 7pm Portland vs. Ft Wayne. Stick an extra one in the cooler and I’ll  see ya at the launching pad!

Happy 21st birthday to one of my favorites, Thomas McCowan.

This is Randy Miller pg 14
