Posted Jul 26/10 - Rockets Double-Dip Warsaw 5-4 and 6-3
Rockets defeat Warsaw twice 5-4 and 6-3 July 24, 2010

Good morning baseball fans, it’s a beautiful day in Portland!

Double plays, home runs, Rocket rallies, clutch hitting, gutsy pitching,
It was all there at Runkle-Miller Field on Saturday, where the Portland Rockets took down the Warsaw Indians twice, 5-4 and 6-3. On the hottest day of the year, Dan, the man, Bollenbacher pitched his strongest game of the year. Dan went the distance in game one striking out 7, giving up 7 hits but it took last inning heroics and a Rocket rally to win the game. Needing one to tie and 2 to win, Max Ludy gave me the 2 sign, just get 2 and win the game he said... well, it worked. Heath Williams got his second hit of the game to lead off, Chris Tillery laid down a nifty bunt, to move Heath up…Tillery nearly collided with the Warsaw infielder covering and went down in a heap, injuring his knee. Latest reports are he has a sprain and should be ok this week. Brudi, who crushed a home run earlier, smashed a ball that ate up the 3rd baseman. Then Mark (they call him the iceman) Isenberg made Ludy a prophet with a shot to the gap scoring Brudi...winner, winner chicken dinner!!!!

Rockets made 5 errors in the contest but Bollenbacher faced a season high 33 batters and prevailed. Rockets with 2 hits from Williams and Tillery. In game 2, Will Walters pitched shutout ball for 6 innings, he allowed no runs in 3 innings last week, Will gave up but 3 hits and Ko'd 7. Bryan Brudi hit another home run blast (that was 2 in 2 games) and while it was quite breezy on Saturday, as well as hot, his drives needed no help...long gone! Rockets scored 3 in the 1st 2 frames and took a 6-0 lead into the 7th . Tyler Palmer finished the 7th allowing 3 runs, 3 hits. Rockets took down Warsaw in one hour 35 min. in game one, then 1hour 33 min. in game 2 . Those Indians were beaten and ready to cool down at the Greasy Pickle.

Sunday’s game vs. Taylor University rained out! Rockets are hoping to schedule a game Tuesday, but as it stands, Portland ends the regular season 15-15 . Big fish to fry this weekend ….World Baseball Congress tournament draw is today, action begins this weekend. Teams from all over the Midwest will be in Portland, I hope they enjoy the Jay County Fair, because when they come to our house, the competition will be intense. Rockets win twice over the Warsaw Indians, good stuff !!!!
This is randy miller pg 14
