Rockets lose in Cincinnati nabf tournament 1-0 to Cincinnati chiefs   loss ends tournament run and season

 

Rockets end year 19-19

Bill geeslin pitched a gem giving up 2 hits but the rockets only had 3 on the day . The proverbial rocket rally was not to be this day, the rockets did put the 1^st two runners on in the 7^th inning, single by bryan brudi and a walk to justin Marrero just back from the great lakes conference tournament

 

, but after a failed sacrifice attempt, riley muhlenkamp hit into a double play and thomas mccowan popped out and the rally was squashed.

 

Geeslin gave up a lead off two strike double to  start the 1^st inning and after advancing  on a ground out , the only run of the game scored on a wild pitch. 

 

Bill gave up 2 hits , walked 3 and struck out 3, all in  a game that lasted one hr and 18 minutes

 

Bill went the last 5 innings pitching no hit baseball.

 

Rockets had hits from heath Williams and mark Isenberg and bryan brudi.

Just yesterday the rockets had 0 hits losing 4-1 to Cincinnati cobalts  left 0 runners on base,  tonite rockets leave 3 but get shut out 1-0

 

Portland defense turned 3 double plays in the game and made many defensive gems as they have all season to keep the game close.

20 portland ambassadors of summer baseball on hand  to finish the year , Portland travels well and as always, more fans, more players but this time not more runs/ as you may recall the rockets played 5 games in regional last year, only to lose in the championship game to the detroit jet box.

Said coach miller,  we have pitching still waiting in the wings, mounsey, walters, mills, and palmer,  as we prepared for a  5 game marathon, but it wasn’t meant to be as rocket s go out 2 and done
