AUGUSTANA 9, ST. CLOUD ST. 0 at Ronken Field - Tyson Gau pitched a five-hitter and Nate Baumann drove in four runs as the Vikings won the first game of a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference doubleheader.
Game 2 was suspended due to darkness after six innings with St. Cloud leading 6-2. It will resume at noon today followed by the scheduled doubleheader.
Gau (5-3) struck out three and walked one as the Vikings (22-15, 14-7 NSIC) beat 14th-ranked NCAA Division II St. Cloud (26-7, 14-5).
Baumann was 3-for-4. He led off the first inning with a home run, had an RBI double in the second and had a two-run single in the fourth. The senior from Marshall, Minn., became Augustana's career hits leader with his home run, passing Gary Walz's mark of 238. The double made him the Vikings' career doubles leader with 45, passing Brad Bornhorst.
Nate Alfson had two singles and three RBI for Augustana. |
