Posted Apr 26/11 - Two 3 run homers defeat Outlaws

MOUNT VERNON — Cole Wenande had a home run and a double to lead the Hanson County Ducks to a 9-4 win over the Mount Vernon/Woonsocket/Sanborn Central Outlaws in a high school baseball game Monday afternoon.

Wenande went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and three RBIs for the Ducks, who improved to 3-2 on the season. The Ducks scored three runs each in the third, fourth and fifth innings to seize control of the game.

Tyson Kayser also went 2-for-4 and hit a home run with three RBIs for the Ducks, who also had Jacob Bartscher go 3-for-3 with two runs.

Pierce Smith started and picked up the win for the Ducks. Smith allowed two runs on five hits and struck out six batters. Kayser pitched the final two innings and allowed one run on three hits.

Justin Davis led the Outlaws at the plate with three hits and three RBIs. Kyle Gerlach and Cam Deinert each added two hits for the Outlaws.

Deinert took the loss after allowing five earned runs on four hits in two innings of relief.
