Fort Lauderdale, Florida - Miami Rain defeats hometown rivals, Fort Lauderdale Lions, 74-71, and improves to 3-0 on the season. This game stayed close all 40 minutes. Charmaine Clark came out with a burst of energy in the 1st quarter to lead the Miami Rain in scoring and rebounding. The second quarter belonged to Telisha Quarles, lighting up the cylinder with three pointers. In the third quarter, Jamie Skinner and Christina Rozier helped the Rain continue their fight against the Lions. But the fourth and deciding quarter was taken over by Lashonda Gaines. Her ability to get the basket and create plays enabled her to get to the free throw line and to put easy points on the board. Lashonda finished the night with 20 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 steals. At the end of the game rebounding became the key to Miami Rain's success. Christina Rozier grabbed a game changing rebound with a little over one minute left in the game to swing the momentum into the Lady Rain's favor. Jamie Skinner finished the afternoon with 11 rebounds followed by Melissa Dalembert with 10.
