The Red birds traveled west to Arlington this evening and played in the heat of the weather and the pressure of facing a team they had to beat by 4 runs to get a favorable seed in the Central Division Playoffs.
They withstood both heat and pressure and came away with a 10 5 win. Red Birds will host the same Arlington As on Friday night, July 22nd , for a 7:30 PM start at Storm Red Bird Stadium.
Andrew Roy started and pitched the first 5 innings and left with a 7 2 lead to earn the victory. Lucas Penovich worked the 6th and 7th and surrendered 3 runs and the Red Birds led by 7 5 after 7 innings.
Justin Kurth then worked a scoreless 8th inning. The Red Birds scored 3 runs in the top of the 9th to push the margin above the 4 required according to the seeding rules. And Kurth then struck out the side in the bottom of the 9th inning to preserve the win, and the margin of victory.
Justin Thompson was the hitting star getting 3 singles, a double and a walk in five plate appearances. He also scored twice.
Well see you at the ball park on Friday night to cheer your Red Birds to victory.
