Up to this point, the Dodgers have largely been winning games with their stellar defense. Sure, they managed 15 runs in a solid first day of the tournament a week ago, but their opponents were obviously named for the mounds of beer they were pounding back. Awesomely fun team, but lacking in coordination. Tonight, after a tentative first game that saw an uncharacteristically bad defensive inning result in a loss, the team roared back with 26 runs in four innings for a game two victory and a traditional Dodgers split. The team was helped by some errors, but they were also finding the holes. Rob uncharacteristically wasn't finding any holes. It's a good thing he's pretty.
Dave and Mel were particularly strong at the plate, going a combined 9 for 9 with 5 runs, 5 RBIs, 4 doubles and 2 triples in the second game. The Drunken Monkey is now second on the team in triples behind only Shaun. Up next for the Dodgers should be a tough couple of games against the first place Sluggers on Friday.
